Chimney Inspections

When accessible, our camera equipment will be used to view the interior areas of the flue. For inaccessible flues and or manufactured fireplaces, we will attempt to remove the front panel and chimney cap to observe and inspect the interior components.

A proper chimney inspection, even for a fireplace that’s not in use regularly, is an important part of home inspection. The lack of, or damage to spark arrestors, creosote build-up inside the chimney exhaust, and varieties of other factors can lead to fire danger for your property. Heavy build-up and non-compliant, non-functional vent can also lead to potential fire danger and carbon monoxide build-up. It is important to have your chimney exhaust inspected along with your residential or commercial inspection.

Sometimes, external chimney damage is easy to spot. Cracks, missing bricks, broken spark arrestors…etc can be visually spotted and confirmed from the outside. Above is an example of clear external damage on a brick chimney.

However, internal damage inside the chimney flue may not be immediately obvious.
